The Beat Diáspora

Held by MyMama Entertainment in co-production with Coy Freitas and KondZilla, The Beat Diaspora is much more than a documentary series from Youtube Originals. Recalling the heritage from African drum beats, we're led into a great cultural immersion through the history of 6 afro-diasporic musical rhythms: São Paulo's funk, brega funk, afrobeats, bahia electronics, reggaeton, and dancehall.

To translate this sonic patchwork graphically, we used both digital and analog techniques. We conceived of the whole visual project as a way to communicate the richness and diversity of these constantly changing musical universes that exist in dialogue between diasporic communities.

Invited by Muviu Estúdio Criativo, Studio Lombra dove deep into the atmosphere of rhythms and movements from the diaspora to develop the brand, visual identity, lettering and illustrations that were part of The Beat Diaspora.

Digital and analog are mixed to compose the alphabets that create the sense of movement and dance of the proposal. The textures produced by Flávio Cortês (Cortex), a Bahian artist, are real worlds that relate to the color palette of every rhythm, representing the mix of references and influences that are intertwined and constantly transformed.
